Emily
Owner, Head Trainer
An avid dog lover, Emily has been immersed in the dog world her entire life. Before entering the realm of professional dog training, Emily spent her time volunteering for animal shelters, fostering homeless dogs, and seeking out education on dog behavior, ethology, and training methodologies. In 2018 Emily grew her hobby into a full-time career helping dogs and their humans achieve the best possible life together. She has combined her love for dogs, passion for helping people, and deep understanding of canine behavior to develop functional obedience programs that not only train dogs, but educate humans as well.
As a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP), Emily holds herself to the highest of standards in ethical, balanced training. Always committed to continuing her education, Emily frequently attends workshops and seminars to learn from leaders in the dog training industry from a variety of training backgrounds. Emily has completed Level 1 of Relationship Based Behavior Modification, The Canine Digestive System and Nutritional Needs course, and a Puppy Development course taught by Nelson Hodges. She has also attended the Movement Markers Clinic to learn about canine kinesiology and its significance in training and behavior modification from the brilliant Maryna Ozuna. Additionally, Emily has attended workshops on Large Group Socialization (with Jason Vasconi) and Understanding Canine Drives (with Brian Agnew), and studied in online courses about The Neuroscience Of Anxiety (with Dr. Melanie Uhde), Behavior Modification (with Method K9), Problem Solving Difficult Behaviors (with Tyler Muto), and Relaxation Protocols (with Training Between The Ears).
Emily lives a happy life with her husband, an engineer officer with the U.S. Army, and their three children. When she’s not training other people’s dogs, you will likely find Emily out training her own three dogs or enjoying time with her family.
Lisa
Lead Trainer
Growing up surrounded by animals, Lisa developed a deep appreciation for all animals from a very young age. Her fondness for dogs and horses in particular drove her to seek out regular opportunities to work with and learn from them throughout her life. Even as she worked fulfilling jobs in the human mental health field and the veterinary field, she found herself craving more time focusing on what she loves most: horses and dogs.
Lisa joined Major Wags Dog Training in 2021, bringing with her impressive amounts of knowledge, understanding, intuition, and drive. Lisa has completed Level 1 of Relationship Based Behavior Modification with Nelson Hodges, and graduated from a Movement Markers Clinic to learn about canine kinesiology and its significance in training and behavior modification, taught by Maryna Ozuna. Additionally, Lisa has attended workshops on Large Group Socialization (with Jason Vasconi) and Understanding Canine Drives (with Brian Agnew), and she has studied online courses on Behavior Modification (with Method K9).
Lisa lives a very happy and fulfilled life with her husband, who serves in the United States Air Force. They share their home with three dogs, two cats, and a horse. Her greatest joys in life are spending time with her husband, visiting the barn to work her horse, and going on outdoor adventures with her dogs.
